Artist comment: This piece was inspired by a small work I’d created recently for competition in an art show. The small work was a classical reproduction & my first foray into the traditional mosaic style.

Though very tedious, you really have a lot of control over colour graduations using small tesserae and I instantly took to it.
The blue sheet on the couch is made from the same pool tile – there was such good variation in the colours, I just chopped them up & sorted them into shades.
The work was submitted to the Mosaic Association of Australia’s Sydney Exhibition where it one second prize.
I really loved this work and see myself doing more in this style in future.
