“Sunsigns”
Example 1 – Black Black maximises the vibrancy of the colour in the work. There is some loss of definition in the symbols, but this is fairly well countered by tight laying of the yellow tiles. | Example 1 – Blue Blue grout serves to blend the blue tile in the centre, but there is loss of definition in the symbols. I personally don’t like the blue grout lines. |
Example 1 – Terracotta Terracotta works well here. The sunrays become very well defined as do the red borders. Overall the colours aren’t as vibrant as the black grout though. | Example 1 – Yellow Yellow blends the background well & helps define the symbols. On the downside, grout lines show up in the sunrays and area of blue tiles. |
Example 1 – Light Yellow A lighter shade of yellow doesn’t serve the piece well as there’s no hiding of the grout lines. Also the strong colour in the work is muted. | Example 1 – White White in this example is a bad choice – grout lines are accentuated, much of the strong colour is lost, and the symbols aren’t well defined. |
