Question from Christina of Melbourne

Hi Brett,

Love the website, very informative!

Just a quick question, what are your thoughts about using Silicone as an adhesive over the RLA polymers you generally use? This is for out door work like a birdbath using stained glass.

Many thanks, Christina.

Thanks for your question

I love the idea of silicone, and have used it on the very odd occasion in the past, but I have to be honest here & say that I’m not sure about it’s use in a submerged situation.

I imagine it would be fine, but it would need to be a high quality one & suited for the situation.

I’d look into sikaflex too as it’s very high quality stuff.

I’ve always shied away from it due to cost compared to cement glue, and I find it very messy and difficult to clean up. If I was using glass, I’d be more inclined to use it I’m sure.

Maybe someone else might have a comments about this?

Cheers

Brett
