Cut strips of the tile you plan to make diamonds with.Diamonds are very tricky to draw accurately. If you’re good with maths, by all means measure out and draw your diamonds in with a ruler. In the example, I’ve created a template to trace the diamonds in accurately. Of course you’ll need to make your template the correct size for the strips you’ve cut (or the other way around)
Trace as many diamonds into each strip as you can. You’ll need to allow a tolerance of about 3mm to allow for the thickness of your saw blade.
For the cleanest cuts, begin by cutting one side of the strip as shown – don’t cut all the way through. If you don’t do this, instead cutting all the way through, you’ll find that you lose a small chip as you get to the other side – most frustrating if you were looking for perfect shapes!
Your strip will look like this when you’ve completed the first series of cuts.
Now starting from the opposite edge, cut your diamonds out as shown.Obviously, do your best to meet the cuts for a perfect edge.
This is your finished product! |
