Artist comment: “Mermaid” in my eyes, had to be very different to be worth creating. In this depiction, she’s more like a “Neptune nymph” than a traditional mermaid and really, was inspired more by my understanding of the planet Neptune (in astrology). All of the scales were handcut as I went and much of the piece is created with handmade tiles. A very challenging piece!
