Artists comment: Thanks to great vision from the School principal & art teacher an idea was conceived to cover a rather ugly concrete wall with a very large mosaic to be constructed by students and the school community over the course of a full school year. The River School community mosaic was underway!
All students from year 3-6 were given the opportunity to contribute to the design and then construction of this major project.
The pictures below tell the story better than words can – this is a great example of what can be created through cooperation and persistence. In the future many of these students will be showing this work to their own kids!

This is the design we started work with

This was our “blank canvas” so to speak.

Three of six large pieces laid out on my lounger floor – ready to lay tiles on!

Pieces set up in art room – students hard at work

Another shot of students at work

These sections were large! Took a great deal of patience & cooperation from the students

3 large sections completed ready for cutting down & installing

Installation day – plenty of helpers

This pic gives a good idea of the size of the project

Complete!
