Question from Amelia of Canada
I made a mosaic from stained glass and mirror.I grouted it but now it is dry and it seems some sharp edges are showing. I want to know if I can regrout the whole thing. Will the new grout stick? Any special prep?, or maybe I should throw it away and do another? I think it is a nice piece if not for this

Yes, it should be fine to grout again – try using your grout a little thicker this time.
I would probably prepare the existing grout by using a primer – it helps the new grout stick to the old, but that’s possibly going overboard a little.
I think you’ll be happy with the outcome.
Cheers!
Question from Jeanette of USA
Hi Brett, Is there anyway to change grout color after piece is grouted? I used white and lost a lot of detail
Reply from Brett
Yes, I know that problem.
There’s two ways around it I think.
If your work hasn’t been sealed, you might like to try painting a grout colour on. It’s not something I’ve done myself, but I understand you can get colourings that should work quite well on white grout. Have a look around hardware stores or on the internet and see what you can find.
The other method that I have used is to remove the grout with a dremel. This is tedious & you might go through a couple of diamond bits, but it does work effectively. Once you’ve removed the grout, simply regrout it in the colour of your choice.
Hoping that’s helpful & good luck!!
